What a difference a day makes. Yesterday was sunny and hot. This morning it rained and the temperature is 20 degrees cooler. We'll be going to Gardaland with our rain gear on. Since we did most of Gardaland yesterday there is no big rush to get there today and the crowds will be much lighter with the rain forcast.
We left an hour later, there were only a few of us on the bus (compared to a packed bus yesterday) and there were no lines getting through the entrance. We never got into their children's ride area yesterday so we decided to start there today.
Their big orange tree contained two rides to our surprise.
We stood in a line that "looked" like it was for climbing up into the tree house. Maybe climbing into the tree house is popular we thought.
What we ended up in was a totally unexpected ride that was extremely well done and a shocker in how they pulled it off.
Have I got your attention? Great!
The attraction was called the Magic House. You first entered an elevator, about the size of the Haunted Mansion's elevator, (about 70 people) that took you down about 1 floor, very slowly. Now you're in a pre-show room where the talking animatronic says something in Italian about the setup of the ride. You are then split up into two groups that enter into the ride vehicle.
You sit across from the other group in two rows of bench seats with this scene inbetween you.
The people and the center thing are connected but WE are not connected to the end walls or the walls behind either of us. The two areas can rotate independant of each other. So our seats start swinging to and fro while the lights go on and off and the voices explain something in Italian.
THEN the walls start turning also and they turn all the way around so that they end up upside down. You're rocking back and forth and the walls are spinning round and the lights are off and voice is bellowing at you. It really is quite effective.
After that pleasant surprise we did find the place to walk up into the tree. On the way they had plateau areas with static displays and music playing, then you would continue up to the next level. At the top you have some pretty good views of the park.
We rode a couple of the other family rides in this area that looked interesting: There was a cartoon-like tractor ride through a farm.
...and an elevated airplane ride on a monorail track with good views of the area and the Raptor roller coaster.
We exited this area and entered a building called Pala Raptor. A guy was shaping sand on a backlit piece of glass and it was displayed on a giant screen. He would "draw" something and then change it slightly to make something else. Then he'd throw more sand on the glass and make something else. It was an entertaining artform for the 15 minutes he did it.
It was cold out but Raptor was next door and we bundled up and rode anyway. We're havin' some fun now!
We went into the Aladdin Cafeteria area for lasagna and penna pasta for lunch. Both were good.
...and another game of blast-the-laser-at-the-LED-targets was fun once again.
This lady makes a mean looking knight.
To end the day we took a trip around the park on their train.
