Disneyland Paris Resort has TWO Parks you can go to: Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Studios. Today was Studios day for us.
We had an early entrance into this Park as well and we headed straight for a roller coaster called Crush's Coaster. Easily the most popular ride in this smaller park, it is a spinning coaster in the dark. A pair of riders sit back to back with another pair of riders and as the coaster travels along the track the whole turtle-shell assembly spins. Some of you might find this nauseating just reading about it. Needless to say, Karen and I loved it.
I'll have a whole blog post on what the French do right and what they do wrong a little later but one thing that needs to be brought up now is the insane slowness of their loading of the Backlot Tram Tour. Many of our Disney group were in various parts of this same line as we were and commented on it individually to us later that day. The inefficiencies of the loading of this ride brought new meaning to the word incredulous - it was simply unbelievable that they could have possibly thought this was good for their guests. OK, I'm done. Back to the happy me!
After THAT fiasco (oops, happy face...) we headed to a Magical Luncheon. Let me set this up for you. In 1992 Karen and I went to our first Disney Convention in Anaheim and listened to the designer/creator/imagineer of Disneyland Paris talk to us about the Park. From that VERY DAY Karen had wanted to spend a whole day in a concierge suite room at the Paris Disneyland Hotel overlooking the Park. 20 years later I'm emailing a travel agent asking what the price of that room would be for ONE day - sit down - $1700.
OK, so we're all agreed that that is way too much to spend for a hotel room - anywhere - anytime. Our Disney Club, however, was able to book a buffet lunch for our group on the 2nd floor of the hotel in a restaurant called Inventions. IT overlooked the Park and as a second best option to spending $1700 for a room was FANTASTIC.
After lunch we adjorned to the 3rd floor to a meeting room called the Founders Club. It ALSO overlooked the Park. And who would be a great person to hear speak at the Disneyland Hotel about the Disneyland Paris Resort? Same guy as in 1992 - Tony Baxter. He told us that THIS Park was the opportunity to make right everything that was wrong about Disneyland. Mission accomplished. This Park is wonderful in every way.
Later we also got to go into the Castle Club that also overlooks the Park and take pictures. Getting Karen to leave the hotel that afternoon was VERY difficult.
Was nice to see another face in your pictures. We might get the idea that you two were the only ones there......Karen's Dad
