04-12 Disneyland Paris Resort's Anniversary

One of the main reasons that we were going to Europe was to be there for Disneyland Paris Resort's 20th anniversary. As we entered the Park there was a talk by the Disneyland Resorts President at the beginning of the morning before the the Park opened.

During the day our Club had three events that were scheduled. The designer and creator of Disneyland Paris, Tony Baxter, gave a talk today and he pretty much said exactly what he had said to our group yesterday but in front of a larger audience inside of Videopolis in Discoveryland. He also had a Q & A session with the 10 Disneyland Ambassadors from around the world.

Karen and a group of her friends went over to the pin trading place and were looking for the pin that was going to be available for only that day at the resort. Only ONE of our group got the pin that day. Unfortunately, they never make enough of them for the demand.

Our group of 50 had lunch at Walt's Restaurant on Main Street We had a crazy salad with goat cheese, a chicken with a tasteless sauce, and a strange mashed potato thing. Neither of them had much flavor. For dessert there were three dry, round cakes and some vanilla ice cream dusted with cinnamon. It all looked nice but it didn't have much taste. Asparagus, dandelion weeds (?), and goat cheese.

The room however was fabulous with pictures all over the walls of Walt Disney. Disney Resorts Chief Operating Officer had time to come over and chat with our group.

The shops at the resort are very well themed and very beautiful and there is detail everywhere.

The resort started a new show this year. It's a show in front of the castle using water screens (think Colors) but they also project new animation scenes on the castle like they do on Small World at Disneyland in Anaheim. They also throw in fireworks! Via the projections the castle is transformed into different items like rocket ships or a birthday cake. The show lasts about 20 minutes and it is OUTSTANDING. This IS the best nighttime show going at any of the Disney parks.

  1. Looks like I forgot to mention ...
the food may tend to taste so bland is they typically use a LOT less salt than we're used to in the states...just a guess. The castle looks spectacular. Thanks for sharing and enjoy!
