04-09 Leaving on a Jet Plane

There is really no "fun" way to fly toward the east for 9 hours and to go through 9 time zone changes. So, we decided a year ago to fly 1st Class using mileage. Flying 1st Class WAS fun.

The food was a bit houtie-toutie for Karen and I but we found enough to keep us alive until the next meal and the service WAS excellent.

After dinner we each chose a movie to watch on our own video screens that popped up from below our arm rests. I watched Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Part I and she chose The Rum Diaries starring Johnny Depp.

We got through half of the movies before sleep started to set in. We electrically lowered out chair backs and raised our leg rests and while laying at a 170 degree angle we fell asleep. We managed about 4 hours of sleep before waking up and having breakfast before we landed in Amsterdam.

After a lunch in the airport we got on a plane for the 75 minute flight to Paris. We took a bus to the Disneyland Paris Resort (Sequoia Lodge) and after checking in we were in the Park by 2:30pm.

Our "beat the jet-lag" plan was to stay awake until 10pm and hit the ground on Tuesday fully acclimated to the time zone change. We got to bed around 11pm and neither of us felt any tiredness in the days following.
